How to prepare for your Personal Branding Shoot
When I book a personal branding shoot I like to get to know you a little and what your brand is all about. Then I can really hone in on what you need, the story we are going to create with your photographs and the style we are aiming for.
Whether you are a Herbalist, a Yoga Teacher, a Tantra Therapist or a Horse Whisperer, you will have an essence that is just about you. That's what I like to capture.
My first go to is Pinterest for some inspiration that I may not have thought of. I always have plenty of creative ideas and on the day tend to be quite optimistic about how many shots we can get, but I think it's also really beneficial to style some specific shots and I like to get really creative by starting there.
I like you to prepare too as you know your business best. If you're a yoga teacher for example I like you to think about which poses would look best in photos, where you excel and feel your best.
The next stage is the shoot location. I've been lucky to shoot in some great locations, from Hawaii & Ibiza to Dorset. So finding the right spot for your brand is important. I like to use natural light wherever I can, so I prioritise good lighting, inside and out. At the moment I'm focusing on the wellbeing sector as I've worked in this area for nearly 20 years. I love it. I'm very spiritual at heart, practise Ayurveda, yoga & meditation daily. I think these really help in a photoshoot, they help me understand those brands better but also keep me grounded while we are shooting.
I don't know about you but when I'm in the creative flow of a photoshoot I can loose myself so staying grounded is a great tool to have. I like you to be relaxed and feel comfortable, that's how we get the best shots.
My talent as a photographer is seeing people's light & capturing it. I see beauty in so many things, nature, the dancing of light of leaves, the light in someone's eyes when they genuinely laugh. Then it's about skill, timing & always a bit of luck to get those magical shots.
Our shoot lasts a 1 to 2 hours, as we've prepared we'll have time to get 3 - 5 settings, headshot, full length, poses if you need. If you have products, I also have taken lots of product photography that we can style perfectly to your brands ethos.
Then it's all down to the editing. There are so many ways to edit photos, but I like to keep mine within my style range, light, clean, fresh, dappled light. Ét voila......a few days later you'll have a gorgeous gallery to choose from.
Trust me, it's definitely worth the investment.
Much love & hope to work with you soon
