An image speaks a thousand words......

Or so they say..... I have to agree, as a very visual person I see things in images, my ideas come in images, I have to visualise an idea before I create it, seeing the wrong visual connected to messaging makes me uncomfortable. I don't think everyone realises how important the visuals are. Picking the image that's going to be your headshot for your branding for example, yes you need to like it, I agree, you want to feel beautiful, portray something that reflects your personality, but it also needs to tell a story around what you offer.

As I write this there an image of a waterfall that came up as automatically, not the one I'm going to use because what would that say to you? It might make you think of travel, of getting away, of a retreat maybe, perhaps freedom, or escapism but none of those things say branding, or photography for your business. I want to pick something that shows you what I do, how I can help your business but with an essence of me in there so it doesn't look too generic.

I find that there's a lot of images out there that are looking a little generic and some that are just off point completely. So the things to think about when considering your branding are what do you do? How do you want people to know you? For example, are you corporate or more relaxed? Even if you don't realise it you're making judgements about a person just by seeing their image so it's super important to get it right.

In my bespoke branding photoshoots we work that out beforehand, we have a long chat about you and your business, what image you want to portray to the world, where you need the photography, whether its a banner for a website, headshots, or images for instagram. Then we personalise the photoshoot for you. I help with your styling, choosing the right location, arranging a model if we need someone, making sure the clothes are right, if we need any props etc.

It's a lovely process to really hone in on what you do and what you are selling, when you get the branding right your images will speak for themselves.

I tend to work with wellbeing professionals mostly, yoga teachers, healers, artists, therapists. Even though those fields may overlap I've found each of the women I've worked with have actually wanted something quite different from the next.

So my advice to you is get thinking, have a look at the images you have on your socials, website etc, ask a friend for a really honest review or me if you'd like, I'm happy to tell you what works and what doesn't.

If you're dipping your toes in and on a budget then a mini branding shoot is a really good way to start, you'll get a handful of beautifully edited images that you can use immediately, you can test the waters and if you're happy (I'm sure you will be) you can book in for a full branding shoot.

Anyway, those are my musings for the day. I hope to see you soon and create something perfect for your brand.

Love & light
