Preparing for your Wedding Photo's

Choosing the right photographer for your special day is one of the biggest decisions. You don't get a second chance to reshoot so it's really important you find someone that you get on well with & love the style of their work.

There are so many photographers out there of all budgets so how do you choose? A great start is to check out local photographers in the area you're getting married, but don't limit yourself. Many photographs travel for destination weddings, I know I do.

Instagram & Pinterest are also great sources of inspiration. Create a mood board of all the looks you love and when you find a photographer that you like the style of share your board. It's a co-creation. We all have a style of how we shoot and what looks beautiful but as an artist I'm always open to create your vision too and I love to experiment.

I really recommend meeting your photographer if possible. It's lovely to have a little engagement shoot just to see that you're a good fit. If you can't manage that then most photographers will give you some time to go through the looks for your day and give you a guide to what they will shoot. Go over the flow of the day to make sure you know what to expect and to ensure you don't miss any special shots you really want.

As an experienced photographer I like to document your wedding, I'll be in the background making sure I capture as much as possible, from the fine details, your classic getting ready shots, the dress, the groom, the ceremony. We'll create some time to focus on the amazing couple shots while your guests have drinks. Then I'll shoot the documentary style photographs of speeches, toasts & candid guest shots.

I'll stick around for the dances of course! Can't miss the fun, and if you like I'll add some fun extras. The last wedding I shot we did a great reel of all the guests which worked beautifully and captured the essence of the real Ibiza Wedding. It's lovely to book a videographer. I will capture as much as I can but have a second set of eyes on everything is always worth it.

Then the magic happens when I spend more than a week, probably closer to two editing all these amazing photos for you. I know some photographers can find this tiresome but I love it, it where the magic unfolds. It takes me back to days in the darkroom waiting for a photo to develop. Nowadays it's about flicking through the 100's of images to find the magical shots, and how much more they become with the right edit.

Mostly the best wedding photography experience I believe is having good rapport with your photographer. You want to feel relaxed and happy, you'll have enough to worry about on your day so this you want to let go of and trust you'll get the shots you want. The better relationship you have and the more relaxed you feel the better the shots will be.
